Day Thirty: The Blogger Challenge (A vivid memory)

Day Thirty: The Blogger Challenge - A vivid memory.

I have decided to replace day 30 with the day 31 (we had too many by accident) as I agreed with the other ladies that "react to the term letting go" was maybe a bit of a sad note to end this challenge on.  So for the final day of the challenge I will be recalling my first date with Mr FH.

Our first date was rather random.  Firstly we went to a coffee shop where I was sure that he didn't even like me!  I ordered for him at the counter which didn't go down too well - it turns out he was being sarcastic but obviously on a first date I didn't know his humour.  I also snorted when I laughed.  I can swear that I've never done that before that date, nor since so it must have been nerves!  I was MORTIFIED!

Once we'd finished our drinks (I don't even like coffee but didn't want to order anything like hot chocolate for fear of him thinking I was a fat cow) we didn't really know where to go so we came to the agreement to walk around Toys R Us!!!  We talked for quite a while as we walked around the store.  I knew he had a son but we both agreed that Toys R Us was no where near as much fun as when we were both children.

After our bizarre browsing experience, we sat in the park for hours chatting away and it's then when the nerves settled and we found out a lot about each other.  When the date had ended, we kissed but it was one of those awkward move in for the cheek or lips kisses.

As far dates go, it was rather random but it clearly worked as we are still together (3 years today actually!) and we are planning our wedding!

That's it!  The 30 day challenge is over... I hope you've found some of my posts interesting and I apologise for the really deep depressing ones!!

Day Twenty-Nine: The Blogger Challenge (Five songs that bring back memories)

Day Twenty-Nine: The Blogger Challenge - Five songs that bring back memories...

Oooh this is a bit of a tough one because I'm terrible with remembering the names and artists of songs. Let's see what I can remember...

1.  Five - Keep on Moving
This song came on the radio on the way to work when I had my first proper job and I remember my friend and me dancing along to it in the car while someone else drove.  We must have looked like complete idiots!

2. Eagles - Hotel California
I remember this song was played while me and my family were on holiday in Mauritius and my brother in law burst into song along with it.  Was quite funny at the time as I was a teenager going through my embarrassed stage.

3.  Take That - Love Love
My step son absolutely adores this song and it is unfortunately one that is stuck in my head all of the time. Everytime he gets in the car he asks for it on.

4.  Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Oh my god! Mr FH and I went to see Bruce Springsteen in concert at the Coventry Ricoh arena and the atmosphere was amazing.  I have never been to such a fun gig!

5.  I must admit I am completely stumped for the fifth song! There are bound to be many songs that bring back memories I just can't think of them :)

I hope you've enjoyed these photos.  I haven't included any of Mr FH or my step son because Mr FH doesn't like cameras (going to be an issue at our wedding!) and since I'm not my step son's mum it's not my place to post photos of him in public places but I love them both to bits!.

Let's see what everyone else has posted :)

Day Twenty-Seven: The Blogger Challenge (A letter to your readers)

Day Twenty-Seven The Blogger Challenge - A letter to your readers

Firstly, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who reads my little space on the Internet.  When I first started my blog I didn't think anyone would be interested in what I had to say and the thought of an outfit of the day post terrified me!  Once the first outfit post was done I guess the nerves subsided and I would say I am now a little addicted to it and I post a lot more regularly now I know you are reading!

The last few months have been amazing - being contacted by several plus size brands to review their clothes, getting comments on my blog, seeing traffic increase.  I genuinely wish that I had started doing this years ago and am really glad that I found the confidence to finally launch my site.

Without you, there would be no site. Seems a bit pointless rambling on to myself so again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading and supporting me and I hope to meet some of you at this years Plus North! :)

Day Twenty-Six: The Blogger Challenge (Something you read online)

Day Twenty-Six The Blogger Challenge - Something you read online

This isn't technically reading, but I have an obsession with checking the weather forecast online!  I check it a few times a day and i'm not really sure why! It's become a bit of a novelty in our house with Mr FH calling me a weathergirl! lol

Let's see how everyone else answered today's challenge:

Day Twenty-Five: The Blogger Challenge (Something someone told you about you that you'll never forget)

Day Twenty-Five: The Blogger Challenge - Something someone told you about you that you'll never forget.

I've been trying to think of a positive thing for this challenge because as you probably know you'll remember most of the negative things forever!  The most positive thing someone has ever said about me is Mr FH near the beginning of our relationship when we were dating every day!  He told me I was the most beautiful girl in the world, which I don't agree with and at the time I thought he was just saying it to be nice, but now after 3 years together I genuinely believe what he said to be true in his opinion.  I'd never agree with it! lol :)

Let's check out the other challengers taking part - not long now ladies!

Day Twenty-Four: The Blogger Challenge (Your top 3 worst traits)

Day Twenty-Four: The Blogger Challenge - Your top 3 worst traits...

I found this challenge really easy because I am well aware of most things that are annoying about myself.  The worst trait I have is interrupting people who are talking to me.  I do it all of the time to Mr FH and it REALLY irritates him,

Worrying is probably my second worst trait I have.  I'll panic about really trivial things like "What are we going to eat on the weekend?", what if scenarios that haven't even happened!  Sometimes they can be unrealistic things like "what if we go ice skating and someone skates over my fingers and chops them off"?".

Putting myself down is another bad thing that I do.  I am getting better at receiving compliments but I am constantly making comments like "My arms are looking really fat, my hair is thinner and my legs have more cellulite"  I think most women have days like this though no matter what size they are or what they look like...

I'm interested to see what everyone else has written for this challenge:

Day Twenty-Two: The Blogger Challenge (Rant about something)

Day Twenty-Two: The Blogger Challenge - Rant about something

I enjoy a good rant now and then and there are plenty of things that "grind my gears" but I am going to share with you something that I found downright rude while eating out a couple of months ago.

Now I am all for technology, don't get me wrong. I'm a self confessed computer geek while Mr FH is more of a science nerd.  I understand the importance of introducing children to technology and we regularly help my step son on his little Vtech laptop and have shown him how to use a mouse/keyboard etc ready for school.  My bug bear is when older children (from say the age of 9 or 10 up to teenagers) have absolutely no respect whatsoever.

Recently, Mr FH, my mum and I were eating out.  We sat down and ordered our food when this family came in.  From a distance it looked like a mum, younger teenage boy, his gran (possibly).  They sat down at a table in my eyeline and immediately the boy took out an ipad and sat with it playing games and watching films right at the dinner table!  I was so shocked! I thought it was incredibly rude that he hadn't even talked to his gran/mum/family and that he was sat the whole time playing on his ipad.  I am a people watcher (which is probably annoying to other people!) and mentioned it to Mr FH about if my step son ever did that he'd have it confiscated! I know family meals can be boring, hey I was a child once but please let's have a bit of interaction at the dinner table!!

Day Twenty-One: The Blogger Challenge - A list of links to your favourite posts in your archives

I have hand picked a selection of my favourite posts in my archives - if you'd like to recap with my over my journey as a plus size fashion blogger, here's the best bits!

My Review of Simply Be
http://felicityhart.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/my-review-of-simply-be.html
I love this post because it is the first review I ever took part in.  I was so excited at being asked to review something that I was bouncing around the house for days!  From memory I also think these were my first photo posts on the blog and I was super nervous about starting OOTD posts etc in case my style looked silly :)

Review of Paper Dolls - Partywear Brand @ Simply Be
http://felicityhart.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/my-review-of-paper-dolls-exquisite.html
I think when you see this post you'll understand why I love it.  I actually have photos I really love of myself! I have never owned any dresses that are so exquisite before that review and I felt extremely lucky to be able to try them on (and rock them if I do say so myself!)

Plus Size Wedding Dress Shopping
http://felicityhart.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/plus-size-wedding-dress-shopping.html

As we are currently saving for our wedding I am completely wedding mad. I wouldn't say I was bridezilla because that isn't in my nature but I love cooing over anything to do with weddings!  I don't think there is enough decent information out there for curvier girls before they have their first bridal shop experience and I remember how nervous I was before mine so I'd like to think this is a helpful post for all plus size brides to be.

30 Day Blogger Challenge - A Favourite Photo Of Yourself
http://felicityhart.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/day-seventeen-blogger-challenge.html

I really enjoyed this challenge and I didn't find it hard at all.  It was so lovely to go back through my old photos and find one where me and dad look so happy.  Miss him so much :)

I hope you've enjoyed this journey through my blogging memory lane and will check out the other gorgeous girls taking part in this challenge. Not long left now!

Day Twenty: The Blogger Challenge (Something you are struggling with right now)

Day Twenty: The Blogger Challenge - Something you are struggling with right now.

Another serious challenge today, although a short one.  What am I struggling with?  This is easy...

It has taken me a long time to get to the point where I am relatively happy with the way I look but I would still say that something I am struggling with right now (and always have) is my weight.

I have been a bigger girl since I was 6 years old and have yo yo dieted from the age of 14 which is really bad.  The reason I would say I am struggling with my weight is not for any vain reason but because I don't want to get ill in later life.  My mum has diabetes which at the moment is diet controlled and my uncle has really bad diabetes and was in intensive care for a few months after having a hypo so I want to eat healthier and exercise to prevent myself from getting weight / diet related illnesses.

Take a look at the other girls taking part in this challenge.

Day Nineteen: The Blogger Challenge (Five of your favourite blogs)

1
Day Nineteen: The Blogger Challenge - Five of your favourite blogs and what you love about them

I can't believe we are on day 19 of the blogger challenge and I haven't missed a single day - RESULT!  Now for today's challenge... I spend far too much time reading blogs - mainly plus size fashion but also some recipe / healthy versions of food blogs too to pick up tips for feeding the family :)  It was really hard to choose only 5 blogs to mention but here is my shortlist in no particular order...

1.  What Laura Loves
I've mentioned Laura's blog before but I'm going to again because her blog is one of the reasons I decided to start my own.  I think she has fantastic style and she has a love for dresses that I equally share.  Laura's blog also highlights beauty products as well as fashion so I think it's a winner.

2. The Ramblings of Mrs Bebe
I love reading Becky's blog - her outfit of the day posts are really inspiring and I have bought dresses based on her reviews / OOTD posts. I also find Becky's posts really entertaining and they keep me hooked (I haven't read through the whole blog yet but I am sure I will eventually get through her archives!)

3.  A Rose Like This
Rosie's blog is really cool - her fashion style is pretty retro which I love and her photos are always really clear.  I've been reading Rosie's blog for a while now and I find it really informative too :)

4. Danielle Vanier
I only recently discovered Danielle's blog but it's one I have been reading regularly.  She has some awesome clothes ( I want her wardrobe ha). Danielle's blog is more photo orientated than text, but her photos are really inspiring :)

5.  Fuller Figure Fuller Bust
I absolutely love George's blog - she has a figure I would love!  Really cool dress sense and her posts are always really great.  George reviews a lot of outfits and also underwear which doesn't really apply to me because I'm not that lucky up front! I like George's blog because it's full of personality and her style is awesome.

I wonder who everyone else has chosen for their favourite five blogs?

Day Eighteen: The Blogger Challenge (A childhood memory)

0
Day Eighteen: The Blogger Challenge - A childhood memory - Tell a story from your childhood.

The story I've decided to tell from my childhood is from when I was 13 years old and my family all flew out to Mauritius where my sister got married.  For some reason this holiday sticks in my head with plenty of details.  My parents and I flew out separately to my sister and her husband to be.  I remember the flight being around 12 to 14 hours non stop and as a bad flier due to my ears feeling like they are going to explode when I am on a plane it was a complete nightmare journey.

Once we had arrived at the airport in Mauritius I couldn't hear a thing.  We got on the tiny minibus and headed to our hotel.  I'm not sure if it was the travelling, lack of hearing, heat or the bumpy Mauritian motorway but I threw up all over the lady sat in front of me. My mum helped me to clean myself and the minibus and I was stood on the side of the road in my knickers!  The driver went to a local house and got some bottled water for me.

We got to the hotel and I was feeling a lot better.  The reception served us with this amazing orange tropical juice. I have never tasted anything this good since. I must have drank 4 or 5 glasses of it! We were staying in a little thatched roof hut and what would have been my bedroom was tiny and filled with spiders!  I slept in the double bed with my mum while my dad slept on a sunlounger next to us!  Bless him.

I remember quite a bit about the holiday itself - we made friends with the locals and one older boy called Goose used to bring me seashells as presents. I think that it was because I was blonde -  I was a bit of a novelty to the locals.  My family even went for dinner at one of their houses and was served fish stew! Gross! I stayed back at the hotel for that!  We also made friends with some people staying at the hotel too. A lovely lady called Elsa and her friend were on holiday and Elsa tried to teach me how to swim.  As soon as we moved from the children's pool to the adult pool I paniced and that was the end of that!

My sisters wedding was a very blustery day.  Everyone was trying to keep their hats on and their hair out of their mouths!  My sister looked amazing in a traditional white wedding dress and I was in a green bridesmaid dress which was absolutely baking in that weather!  Once the wedding had taken place near the sea, we walked into the hotel lobby.  I tripped up the stairs and felt really embarrassed!  I was wearing shoes that were too big for me and caught them on the bottom of my dress.  Some of the hotel guests joined in the reception party and it was a really great day.  We stayed in Mauritius for another week after the wedding then flew back home while my sister and her husband flew to the Seychelles for their honeymoon.

Let's see what everyone else remembers...
